DivorceHow much will the Divorce Cost?We will be happy to discuss the matter of our charges with you, but in any case there will usually be expenses such as court fees. The court fee for starting a petition is now £180.00. You may also have to pay £30.00 for the Decree Absolute, which is the document that shows you are divorced. However, if you are receiving:
then you will not have to pay either of these two fees. If you do not qualify under the above exemptions, it may still be possible to pay less than the full amount of the court fees if the court grants an application for remission of the fee on receipt of a completed "Application for a Fee Exemption or Remission" form EX160. On the form you will need to give information about the case, about yourself, dependants, employment, your property, your savings, your usual monthly income and your usual monthly expenses. The form is available from any divorce court. If you decide to ask the court for an order for financial support or about any children, you may have to pay fees - £120 per application.
